I've had an absurd number of people shout at me to get on the sidewalk (where I belong) while biking home from school...

Fuck bikers that ride in the street.

It's where they're supposed to be.

Perhaps but it's really annoying when there's a sidewalk and they're holding up traffic.

I ride my bike everywhere. Learn to share the road, motherfucker.

It works both ways, when you are biking down the road and slowing down the car behind you do you let it pass? In my experience the biker never lets the car pass.

I don't have a problem if the biker isn't slowing me down - but this is rarely the case.

Most drivers are rather aggressive (or retarded) where I live and the last thing they want is to get behind some biker (they are rare) going under the speed limit whereas the biker is totally oblivious to the fact that they are impeding the flow of traffic. Again, maybe it's different for where you folks are from but that's a brief overview of how it's where I live.

On a slightly unrelated note, the elderly should not be allowed to drive.

Keep the fuckin bikes on the sidewalks. Unless you're in a crowded city there's more cars in the road than there are people on sidewalks. Stop pissing me off with your slow fucking bike riding, buy a fuckin car.

As someone who has been hit by a car, while riding my bike, I think I can say that the possible loss of your five seconds of passing-time and the possible loss of my blood weighs out in my favor.

I merely offered a second point - because, lets face it, the likelihood of drivers to change their attitude towards bicyclist is near zero. If you really want you can always go cheap/used cars and buy something for one or two thousand bucks.

Living in Santa Monica, I deal with a shit ton of bikers, and it's not the pro bikers that cause trouble, its the douchebags who think they're pro. A real cyclist wears reflective shit, moves on and off the road as appropriate and does veer into traffic like their drunk. Most people on the road are stupid fucktards, whether their in a car or on a bike. If I could kill at will, half the housewives of Beverly Hills would be dead. Ever seen a woman driving a bentley smoking while texting? It inspires black rage inside me.
