N 1.24 Update

Postby Cassiel » Tue Aug 04, 2009 12:42 pm

Between Kaz and I we actually couldn't even find an original copy of N, so I had to haxxz0r it. This will definitely allow the map to run on Battle.net as before, and should fix the boxes of doom/desync issue as well.

2009/8/20 - 1.24c now available.

Change Log

***2009/8/20 - 1.24c***

-- Call Lightning, Flare, Tides of Blood and Crimson Wake now deal damage correctly.

-- Increased Tides of Blood's damage.

-- Decreased Lunar Tides' damage.

-- Decreased Gravity Well's slow.

-- Gravity Well is now removed when the Disciple has no mana.

-- Normalized Blink's cooldown and mana cost.

***2009/8/18 - 1.24b***

-- Fixed an error with handles saved in hashtables that allowed infinite resources to be generated from failed tower construction.

-- Fixed an error with Cauterize that allowed its sfx to become permanent.

-- Fixed an error with Gravity Well that caused it to level incorrectly.

-- Gravity Well no longer slows the Disciple. Instead, it costs 25 mana to activate and 15 mana per second to maintain. It now slows by 15/21/27/33/40% with an AoE of 600.

-- Added a workaround for a Blizzard bug related to morph abilities and transports that allowed El Toro to gain Red Bull immolation permanently.

-- Added workarounds for Blizzard's poorly thought-out W3A -> SLK inheritance. Healing Wave, Blink, and Iceforged now have the correct values at level 5.

-- Fixed Blaze of Glory's level 5 damage.

-- Removed tooltips from blank abilities.

I could not easily resolve the issue with Detonate because as it turns out that's also a Blizzard bug. Detonate doesn't actually interrupt channeling, just Starfall, which happens to be the base ability for Antavahni. Since damage is dealt by the ability, fixing the issue would require remaking the whole thing, and you'll have to wait for O for that.

Barring any silly oversights on my part, Widgetizer glitches in the newly compiled object data, or sterling new Blizzard patches, this should be it for N.

Well if it's any consolation 1.24's elseif return anomaly killed O. I'm going to wait and see if they address it before I spend 20 minutes ctrl-f'ing my way through every return in the map. Usually Blizzard doesn't deserve all the crap people throw at them, but everything about this patch was handled poorly.

Fuuuuuuuuuck

What's the likelyhood of blizzard reversing some of the damage?

Everyone in the wc3c community and tob community that lives in California should all drive to Irvine on some planned date and protest outside their headquarters to fix the patch.

If we can't get enough people we can always resort to hiring people from craigslist casual encounters.

The boxes are indeed gone and you dont disconnect at start, but it still somehow bugs you. Your alone in the game, and although you can hear the other players, they dont do anything at all (like if they were afk) , while for them it looks like you arent doing anything.

Seems like desync to me. For better or for worse it is a non-dc desync.

Ya that elseif bug is ridiculous. However save your time, fix should be coming soon.

Some confusion comes from the fact that some maps like 6.59d work under 1.24. This is only partially true. There is nothing special about those maps, 1.24 is configured to run some maps in temporary 1.23 compatibility mode while 1.24 is further developed. The patch has not been properly configured to run 6.61b in this mode, so 6.61c will be released. That map has no changes except the version string.

Compatibility mode lol.

that was creative.

I suppose every grey cloud has its silver lining. I don't know if you guys see this as a good thing or bad thing, but the map size allowed has now doubled. This mainly means that if we were even remotely close to operating at full capacity, we've now got tons of wiggling room. Then again, loading an 8Mb map might be a lengthy ordeal....
