Nope, unfortunately, he's right I did infer to loading time. Well if it doesn't then that's just great. Now they can get ewrt to add in 4Mb worth of art to make the game prettier than it already is. That or give every needy hero a new model.

It would probably still take a long time to download a map that size, or it would seem like a long time.

They stated a lot of times that O is currently smaller than N.
It's way easier to gain new players with a low filesize, extra stuff like a new gui, music, high res textures etc could still be added via optional mpqs.

O was smaller, now it's the same size, and it will probably end up slightly larger.

Why not push the 8Mb limit? I'm talking about tons of custom effects, skins, icons, etc etc etc. Or if not, why not take it up with something else. theme music anyone???

I'm guessing I'm not in the minority when I say I haven't listened to the in-game BGM since like December 2004.

i haven't played with any in-game sound either actually. But we need to use up 4 MB of space... it's the quickest way i can think of...

Or then Cassiel just uses all the space he needs to make the map uberawesome. It might be 1mb, or maybe 8, who knows? It will still be awesome.

Importing some stuff, just because you can, doesnt sound to good to me..

if only.... But seriously, anything in which you guys said you wouldn't do because of map size now has less of an argument. We need more custom models in here if we can methinks. I dunno about you guys but I think Jean needs a face lift.

Not really. We were never in danger of hitting 4MB in the first place.

sooo...can we add more heroes/icons/features etc etc etc until we hit that limit?

BTW does this also increase the map max playable area at all?

We should totally get a gay little loading screen like dota, i hate saying it, but theirs looks quite awesome and-- dare i say it? -- professional.

Just as long as it depicts Jimmy with a mouthful of dwarf.

I like how people are like 'can you add this and this and this?' to the map because of an apparent filesize increase.

O is 5 years in the making. How about you let them release it based on their intended ready point before requesting a bunch of stuff to be added to delay it to the point of truly being Duke Nukem Forever.

Because adding in additional fan made art , which would be something ewrt would make (or whomever else can make sweet pics), is gonna hold the game back another 3 years.. right.

These suggestions won't necessarily make Os release any slower, since they already have a benchmark point in which it will be open for testing, but it will by no means be fully complete at that point, nor will these suggestions change that fact. From that point on, there will be gradual implementation of additional stuff, like the item system, for instance. So adding in new art or updated models/icons is something very possible which, until the map size increase, was deemed infeasible because of the previously set limit. We have a higher limit, it doesn't slow anything down from what I've been told, art is usually the biggest space hog, O in terms of the triggering isn't changing much from plans, all these things suggest that we can now import more artwork and other visual effects into the map that would otherwise not be possible with the 4mb limit which we would now, probably never hit.
