So, I have this new PC I was updating windows 7, it updated successfully I restarted the PC and everything was fine for about 10 minutes and then my monitor went to power saver mode and I no longer had video. I hard shut the PC off and turned it back on - still no video, the PC is posting however and appears to be booting normally otherwise.

I've tried the video card in another PC and it works and the monitor works when connected to a different PC.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955(3.2GHz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte AMD 770
OS: Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium
Power supply: 700W, don't think it's this.

Going to get some spare parts and throw them in to see if I find anything else.

Anyone run across something similar?

Wouldn't the video card be relevant here?

Processor - doubt it.
Mobo - eh maybe
OS - do you get video before you start loading windows? During the POST? If you don't then OS is a non-factor. If you do - then maybe we care about OS.
PSU - not likely but lets hear what your video card is.

Didn't include video card because the video card works in another PC. I should also mention that my other video card doesn't work either in this PC but works in another.

But anyways:
Nvidia ZOTAC GeForce 9800 GT
ATI SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4830 this is my spare*

Also, there is no video display at all, during post and afterwards.

Well then, time to change your mobo or use another PCIE slot. Or do you have only one 16x on your board?

Yeah, try resetting the CMOS on that motherboard. Also - just to be safe - I'd take out everything else plugged in that's not necessary - in other words use 1 stick of RAM, CPU, and video card.

K, I also popped out the CMOS battery and put that shit back in and it still didn't work. I'll be doing some more with it later tonight.

Sounds like the slot is fucked if you don't have video even in post.

Did some testing last night and it's the motherboard, and quite possibly just the slot, unfortunately I don't have another slot or a regular pci card to test with.

NewEgg is going to RMA me a replacement.

That computer sounds like junk. You should send it to me and just buy a new one.
